June Orchestra Camp

The Houston Heights Orchestra announces its first HHO Summer Orchestra Camp. High School students (including rising freshmen)and adults of all ages are invited to join the professionals and amateurs of the Houston Heights Orchestra for a month of rehearsals and a final concert. Students will be introduced to the world of adult music making in a low-pressure and fun environment. Adults can renew their acquaintance with an instrument they used to play and the orchestra environment they used to love. All will have the opportunity to hone their technical and ensemble skills while learning new and exciting repertoire.

When:

Mondays, 7pm-9.30pm, June 4, 11, 18, 25
Final Concert: June 30th, 7pm at Marmion Park

Where:

Rehearsals will be held in the Parish Hall at All Saints Catholic Church (215 E. 10th St)

Fees:

There is a $30 fee per player.

What to bring to rehearsal:

Instrument, music stand, pencil, music, and an appetite (we usually reserve 7pm-7.30pm for potluck dinner and socializing).

Who should apply:

- High school students (including rising freshman and graduating seniors) who play orchestral instruments and want to learn more about the world of music making beyond school.
- Adults who used to play an orchestral instrumen and want to return to playing after a long break.
- Anyone who wants to come and play!

NOTE: Only those players who are technically proficient enough will be invited to perform in the final concert. But, all are welcome at rehearsals and as our guests at the final concert, where campers of all ages will be recognized.
